Dedication of New Visitor Center

This morning we went to the dedication of the new Craig Thomas Discovery Center and Visitor Center. They had a nice ceremony with interesting speakers and then we toured the new building. It's pretty spectacular and state-of-the-art. Make sure we take you there if you come to visit! My camera battery died before we got inside, so I didn't get any pictures of the interior. The Grand Teton Association has a huge store inside and they've done a great job of getting it all ready for this big event (that is the place I used to work for.)
Security getting into the event was very tight. You were only allowed a camera, your keys and a water bottle. Tyler was allowed to take in his passifier thankfully! Way in the back of the above photo you can see the airport like security arches they had set up at the entrance. There were secret service everywhere and even sniper-like gunman on the roof of the new visitor center keeping watch in the woods. Half the fun of the ceremony was watching all the secret service stuff going on. There's quite a bit of it that isn't very secret!

Welcome and Introduction of Honored Guests: Mary Gibson Scott, Superintendent, Grand Teton National Park.

Remarks: The Honorable Dirk Kempthorne, Secretary, U.S. Department of the Interior

Keynote Address: The Honorable Richard B. Cheney, Vice President, United States of America

Ahhh I understand! I couldn't figure out why you needed so much security at such an event but the VP explains it all!! Looks like you were pretty close. What color were his eyes?! I don't suppose Tyler cared very much about him. Just glad to have his binky! Would love to visit it next time were there!
