Another Week Gone By

Wood cutting in town! Most of last Sat. was spent tidying up the front yard. Keith worked his tail off levelling three lilac bushes. He wanted me to clarify that he only used the ax after he had exhausted all three 18V batteries for the sawsall. And I won't give too many details on how he used his skillsaw as a chainsaw to fit the unruly bundles of branches into one pickup load! I must say, he is one talented woodsman ;o)

Another Bristle Block creation. Tyler's imagination is really developing. Today he built a "rec center" with a pool and "two vents on the roof that heat the pool." It's always amusing to hear him describe his work.

Boyd's first shiner. He heard me getting a snack the other day and headed down the stairs in a frenzy. He has to sit down because his legs aren't long enough yet. He scooted of the top step too fast, toppled head-over-tea-kettle down the next three and managed to hit his head on the edge of one before he caught himself. He shed big tears as I picked him off the step, but soon forgot it as he began eating his banana. Nothin' a little snack can't fix!

You know what's going to be really fun is when you show Tyler pictures of his creations and the thoughts behind them -- when he's 15. My kids have loved remembering how their minds worked when they were little. Good times!

Oh, and a question: How come he's leveling the lilacs? Is that pruning or killing them? California didn't have lilacs. I missed 'em.

Keith doesn't particularly like lilacs, so his feelings won't be hurt if they don't come back. The plan, however, is to keep them neatly manicured if/when they do come back. We shall see.

Looks like you're busy with fall pruning! How fun that the boys are getting to be such good buddies. I notice that with ours. They still fight and have their moments, but they really enjoy eachother's company!
