Last Day of Swimming Lessons

Tyler and Boyd have been swimming twice a week for nearly six months now. Through this time they have grown more comfortable with the water and come to enjoy interacting with their piers and their teachers. So, though neither one knows how to swim per say, I feel like it has been a worthwhile investment.
Not every day was enjoyable. It took Tyler quite awhile to be "okay" with his teacher and her instructions. Some days before his lesson I would hear, "Mommy, I decided I don't like my teacher." But by the last couple months he had changed his mind and now he agrees she was a very nice teacher.

On the last day the students had the privilege of going down the slide...all by themselves! Whoa - did they ever think they were big stuff! Tyler would have never dreamed of this six months ago.

Here he is getting set to go at the top.

And here his teacher catches him at the bottom.

We're going to take a break from swimming now and try to get outdoors a little more. Both the boys just love to bundle up and play in the snow. So, here's goodbye to swimming until next summer!

I'm glad that you ended up feeling like the swimming experience was worth it for the boys. I don't think it hurts, that's for sure! I'm always amazed by the amount of people who don't know how to swim and/or have a terrible fear of water. I guess that growing up by lakes cured me of that early on. Okay...that and the swimming lessons that mom made us take. :o) Thanks for sharing!
