- We met at Post Falls convention back in '93. He was 15, soft spoken with a friendly smile and bright blue eyes. I thought he was so sweet. I said as much to my aunt Mary Ann and that's all it took. She arranged our introduction the very next day. Thank you Mary!
- He FINALLY asked for my address at a convention later that summer and I remember the thrill of receiving my first letter TWO MONTHS later! Gasp! I thought it would never come! But it was the first of many and I still have them. Warms my heart to think of the time he spent - his penmanship was perfect.
- Then we discovered we could talk on the phone and the letter writing was over :)
- I remember the evening he proposed. Being the I-really-have-to-think-it-through person that I am, I hesitated. What was I thinking?! But he patiently waited and I am so thankful.
- We had big plans. He was going to be an optometrist. Me a teacher. We would have a family, but no need to rush that as we were only 19 and 20. We would finish school, travel, have a cute little house in the country. But most of all we would be happy together.
- Our wedding day was much like this day, thirteen years later. Rain, rain, and more rain. The sun peeked out for a few moments allowing for a short outdoor photo session. But it was a beautiful day inside, full of family, friends, and LOTS of smiling!
- If I had to do it over again, I'd do it all the same. Only this time I'd have someone else do my hair. My sweet, patient husband-to-be almost lost his cool when he realized I was still doing my hair 10 minutes after the wedding was scheduled to begin!
We had a nice dinner around our own table tonight and then went out to the Snake River Brewery for their famous S'mores Ala Mode. The boys had fun celebrating with us and dug in with spoons, fists, and elbows! It's been a very happy anniversary!
My anniversary gift!

So sweet, Melinda :-)
Not sure I'm seeing what your gift is. A cutting board? (much too gorgeous to *cut* on!) Sure is pretty!
Happy anniversary, you two! Thanks for sharing your memories!
PS Deysi loves looking at the pictures of your boys, especially Monte!
Awwww! Fun to hear of your early days. Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!! What a wonderful post about your first days. Loved reading that! :) Glad you had a special celebration!
Happy Anniversary you two!! Looks like you had a great meal out! Wish we lived closer to watch those boys for you!:)
Thanks ladies! Shirley, the gift is a cheese board. You can use it to serve soft cheeses with fruit or crackers. You can also use it to serve bread and butter. The salad tongs are pretty cool as they fold backwards nice and flat to fit into my drawer.
THANKS for sharing!! It is so fun to revisit the beginning and be thankful there are even more reasons to love each other now!! I think we ladies should encourage one another to remember the first reasons we fell in love!
Oh wow Nin. I enjoyed this post so much. I remember being so excited you liked what you saw in Keith at Post Falls ~ I couldn't WAIT to get the introduction made so the romance could begin. Heehee. I remember it all soooo well, like it was yesterday! I'm glad I had a good part in your lives, ha. You two are just the best!!! Sure wish we lived closer ~ I often miss you so much and think of all the wonderful times we had when you were growing up ~ very special!!!
Love you both ~ Best of wishes for many many many more happy anniversaries together!
MaryAnn
Thank you, thank you Mary! You are so special to us too!
Dear Melinda and Keith,
You brought tears to my eyes this morning as I read your reminiscing. Thanks for sharing it. I had to giggle about the 10 min hair fixing part... I think I had a similar experience at my wedding. :) Thank goodness our husbands still married up and didn't leave in a huff! ;)
Love you both SO much! Here's to another year!
Melinda--How fun to access your blog & read the 3 events that you wrote about! I really laughed at the "late to your own wedding" due to "doing your own hair". That's a really cute tale (tail)!
