BRRRRR!

I know this comes as no shock to anyone, but it's down right COLD out there! The chair is running on the ski hill, but no one is on it and no one on the slopes. Too cold for fun!

We had a wonderful weekend and didn't take a single picture, so the memories are only in our hearts and minds. It was wonderful to have Tom. H. in our home for two nights, and to see his pictures from Africa and India. We also had a grand time with John and Ellen and a wonderful potluck and special meeting in Blackfoot. Some late nights, but wonderful fellowship and food for our souls.

This week is quiet and cold. We are spending our time indoors, wading through laundry and house keeping. I also took time to listen to President Barack Obama's inaugural speech - you may find this of interest if you have not already listened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjnygQ02aW4 Warning! It takes about an hour to download, so get it going, go eat lunch or supper or whatever, then come back and listen. The speech is only 20 minutes long. Very moving, I thought. If only he had the power and the intestinal fortitude to stand behind those words. If it were up to him, we'd have a perfect world I'm sure, but in the big picture, he probably has very little control. I don't believe this world was ever intended to be perfect, but I guess we can still pray for our leader and a certain amount of peace. It will be interesting to see what God has in mind for our future.

Disclaimer: We haven't become left-wing-wackos down here, but it was a nice speech. I guess if Obama can motivate the people to be strong, be moral and ethical, and stand up for the values and principals this country was founded upon, then I guess he'll have done his job as president. Even if it is just through his eloquent speaking. Feel free to comment.

I just can't seem to trust him. Which means that what he says means nothing to me. I'm waiting to see what he *does.*

There was an interesting segment on the radio this morning on my way to school. Someone had put together sound clips of parts of Bush speeches and Obama's speech. Obama said many things the same as Bush has been saying -- word-for-word -- yet Obama's speech was received with hearty enthusiasm. Ironic and interesting.

I'm just very glad for the comfort of knowing that God is still controlling everything.

I agree that his speech was well put together and well delivered.. I am still not convinced that he will be the savior for this country that the media portrays him as. I guess we will see what he actually does...

Thanks for your post. I too am not Democratic (actually, I don't even vote - yes shame on me - but do consider myself Republican), however, I feel very strongly that our part is not to critize our new President (or the old one), but to do as the Bible says, and pray for him. Obviously he isn't going to be perfect and do all he claims, we know the only one who can do that. But I know the Lord has His hand in this and will triumph. Great to see you at sp mtg!
