Memory Lane Monday: Local History - Teton Pass

Recently we hiked the Pass Ridge Trail which starts at the top of Teton Pass. We've driven the pass hundreds of times but never taken time to stop and check out the area. At the trail head we found this sign with some very interesting history. I can't imagine what it would have been like to travel this route in the early days and in the winter! It must have taken two whole days just to get from Jackson to Victor (23 miles.) Check out the skis on that stage coach - sure hope it had good brakes for going down the other side. And how were they able to find the road under that 30ft drift. Makes me feel like we have things pretty easy now-a-days!

Nice post!! Very interesting, Wow they sure must have wanted to get to the other side awfully bad to put forth the effort it would have taken to cross that pass in those days. Thanks for sharing. Miss you all. Mom
