Memory Lane Monday: On Becoming An Auntie

I must say, being an Auntie is the next best thing to being a Mom. I became an Auntie for the first time in August of 2000. My sister gave birth to precious baby Kyla and what a perfect, smart little baby she was. Now she has grown into a beautiful young lady and I am still so thrilled to be her Auntie. I just wish we could spend more time together!

Then along came Colter in July of 2002. He was such a hansom baby and he's such a hansom young man now. I had the privilege of nannying for these two when my sister was expecting her third. That was certainly a high point in my experience of becoming an Auntie. I became an Auntie for the third time in October of 2004. Little Miss Maya was in a big hurry to come into this world, arriving 5 weeks before her due date. She has grown so big and strong now and is still eager to keep up with Kyla and Colter in many things. But for the most part, she is my happy-go-lucky little niece.
This little niece arrived in January of 2007. I think the best words to describe her are "simply adorable!" Her name is Sarah, and she has a very big personality. She is at a very inquisitive stage in her life, wanting to know about everyone and everything and how it all relates to her. I just love being her Auntie!
And what a happy day to hear of Sweet Rowena's arrival in May of 2007. I have sure enjoyed my time with her over the last couple years. She is smart and strong and so personable. What a privilege to be her Auntie!
Then along came Aiden in October of 2007. He is a real go-getter and I love to watch him play. Ever a farmer, he will take an occasional brake from his digging and plowing to blow a few bubbles or wade in the pool. He is such a hansom kid, and I'm glad to be his Auntie!

This is Emma. Her expressions and personality are priceless. Not to mention the way she tries to tell you just what's on her mind in her own mumble-jumble language. I just can't get enough of her. I became her Auntie in July of 2008 and have enjoyed every minute spent with her!

And last but not least, is Sweet Baby Mari. She is my little miracle niece. She struggled to survive her first few months of life, but I'm so thankful she battled it out and got the victory! She has such a bright disposition now, and she just makes me smile every time I look at her.Yes, becoming an Auntie has been such a thrill. These kids have brought a lot of sunshine into my life. I hope we can make many more happy memories together.

What a sweet and precious post! You just brought tears to my eyes. :) I think our two families are heavy on the girls so it's a good thing you have those 2 sweet little guys to even things out a bit! Can't wait to see what number 3 will be!
