This and That

Tyler asked to take some pictures last week and I had to smile as I went through them the other day. He took over a dozen photos inside and outside and came up with some really nice shots. I wanted to share two of them: the one below shows our newly purchased dining chairs. We wanted chairs to go with the dining table as it is special to me. It belonged to my grandparents and was handed down to us through my parents who used it when I was a young girl. It needs refinished, so here's the question: should we finish it in a wood stain, black like the chairs, or an off-white like the island behind it (maybe with a black top)? And here is a wonderful shot of the garden. We've been enjoying lettuce out of it so far and there's promise of much more.
Recently we baby sat little Kale. What a sweet little darling she is and the boys just adore her. Boyd has been crawling and talking like a baby ever since!

I think you should leave the table a wood stain. HOWEVER...I have *no* creativity in me! You don't know this, but I always refer to my home as a "hodge podge" home because if I have a decoration of some kind, I just put it up where I like it! So...nothing matches or coordinates in my home. And if it does...well, it wasn't on purpose! :)

What are YOU thinking? I hope other people leave comments about it. I want to know what others think. I really DO like it as it is right now, but I also think that changing it to match the chairs would be cool, too. I'm not sold on the white right now, though.

Out of habit, I hit the enter button after I typed my log-in, but I was GOING to go back and add on...

PLEASE let us know what you end up doing and SHOW US the final product!! :o)

Thanks Jen! I don't consider myself all that creative either. If it were me, I'd just paint it black like the chairs and call it good. But a friend of mine suggested (and I forgot to include this in the options) I paint it a bright color to add some contrast to the room. She has me thinking...

Hi Melinda! I personally am a fan of chairs that don't match the table exactly. A two-tone table could look nice (white or black legs), but leaving it wood-stain looks great too. I personally think you could be happier leaving at least the top wood stained. Seems like it would be more durable than a painted finish that could scratch more easily.

Looking forward to hearing about your new addition soon!

I think white with a black top like your island would be pretty cool...but I think it looks pretty nice as is too.
