Mother of Five, Five and Under!

My friend Jessie was a very brave woman this week.  First, to take Tyler and Boyd for a day and a half, so I could get some extra house cleaning done and then to entrust her precious daughters to my care for the next day and a half so she could get some much needed rest and do some fun things you can read about here.  Thanks to Jordan, for cutting time out of his busy work schedule to pick these munchkins up and shuttle them back and forth between Jessi's house and mine.  I can only imagine the ringing in his ears after they all piled out of his work truck and onto my front lawn.  I let them bounce off the walls for an hour or so, then we sat down to supper.  As soon as they sat down, it became apparent bed time might need to come a little early, so after supper we dawned our pj's, read stories, and settled into bed... then we settled into bed again...  and again... and then, one by one, we all drifted off into peaceful slumber.

And here we are the next morning, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Kale eating pancakes.  She ate four!  It was funny because I would start around the table, getting every one's pancakes spread with various toppings and all cut up and by the time I'd get back to my plate, the first one would say, "Another pancake please!"  And around I'd go again.  We consumed 17.5 pancakes!  Hey, don't look at me.  I only had 2.5 :p

Boyd, waiting for his favorite toppings: maple syrup and honey.

Monte's a pro at feeding himself.  The other day I continued to feed him bits of pancake just to see if he would eventually stop eating.  He finally started throwing pieces on the floor after downing two and a half.  And they were decent sized oatmeal/wholewheat pancakes.

Sweet Deysie.  Her favorite topping was strawberries and honey.

Tyler, fueling up for another fun day.

Loaded up and ready for Toddler Gym.

Where we played...

...and played...

...and played some more.

Back home, we ate lunch, took naps, ate smoothies, played, ate supper and then loaded up again for bible study.  The girls (Kale especially) was so excited to see her mommy.

What a fun time though.  And to think, it would have been physically possible to have five kids, five and under.  In September, after Monte's 1st Birthday, these munchkins will be stair-stepped in age (Monte-1, Kale-2, Boyd-3, Deysie-4, Tyler-5.)  And in December, we'll add Jessie's third (Baby-0.) We'll have to take another photo then.

What a fun post! My mom was the youngest of 6 ... all born in 7 years! For 2 days each year they were all stair stepped by a year. I'm not sure home my grandma did it!

Whew! Makes me tired just reading about it!

Brings to mind how I used to cut the older kids' pancakes in fun shapes, but by the time #3 and #4 came along, a couple zips with the pizza cutter was good enough. :-)
