This is Vinny, Mike and Cheri, and their good friend Sarah. We enjoyed Sunday at their house just south of Reno. The weather was chilly with an ocassional snow flurry, but inside we enjoyed warmth and fellowship. Vinny put together a construction set for the boys which they thoroughly enjoyed. Mike and Cherri cooked some amazing food. My favorite was the butter nut squash, cut into quarters, filled with diced apples and a splash of maple syrup, and cooked in foil. Mmm, so yummy.
It was hard to pull ourselves away, but we returned to the road in time for afternoon naps. We made our way northwest to the little town of Standish, CA. Once again, we found ourselves welcomed in to a warm and cozy home. This time we were greeted by the smiles of old friends, the giggles of two toddlers, and the savory aroma of a steaming pot of chili!
Penny and Sawyer were so friendly and happily shared their toys. And they had some pretty cool toys. The boys could have played all night.
Lorraine had brought home baby chicks that afternoon.
Nate helped Keith rework our route for the next day.
Though the kids were showing very little sign of slowing down, we managed to get jammies on and line up for a good story: "Turkey Trouble."
And finally, after many times of being tucked back into their bags, the kids settle down and went to sleep. In between retucking sessions, we enjoyed a good visit over tea and cookies. It had been a wonderful trip so far and we still had 7 days to go.

Fun to see pictures of Mike and Cherri. They were always so welcoming when we'd go down to visit my sister and her family when they lived there.
Alison told us a bit about your planned trip so it's fun to see it all in pictures!
Oh so sweet to see Mike and Cherri again. Their daughter and Kirstyn were roommates in college. Love those people!
I was SO excited to see this post with pictures of Nate & Lorraine and their kiddos!! I went to college with Nate -- so neat to see some pictures of them :)
